Spring on the prairies....

I don't like wind especially when it blows like a banshie and tries to destroy.

I don't like wind when it has forced my daughter to pull over on the highway because of her inability to see anything in front of her except blinding white.

There she sat, alongside the road in a field, for fear of being rear-ended....south of Saskatoon on highway #11.  It was frightening.  She phoned us from her cell and we tried to encourage her to stay where she was....and she did just that for five long hours as 95 km winds kept her locked in her vehicle with no hope of opening them.  It howled and screamed at her from every direction.  Each time she called us, we could hear it driving at her windows, trying in vain to get inside.  One car was on the opposite side of the four lane highway from where she sat...but she wasn't sure if it was parked, abandoned or just sitting there with a 'for sale' sign on its windshield.  The visibility was too limited to get any idea.  Now and then an RCMP vehicle would go slowly by...probably on it's way to an accident.

Finally, it let up enough for her to get to Chamberlain.  Off she went on highway #2.  Driving along slowly she witnessed a semi-trailer overturn right in front of her.  All she could do was call 911 and report the accident.  She noticed the vehicle behind her stop and pull the driver out.  She kept on until she at last reached her destination....frightened, exhausted and quite a bit wiser about spring in Saskatchewan.

Then there were stories from our own co-workers coming home from Cypress Hills and their encounter with the ditch......with farmers pulling them out.

No, you just never know what nature will come up with on a spring day in Saskatchewan.  It kept me praying all day, that's for sure!!!

She made it then? So glad to hear. I was a bit worried about her too and also Joye was to come up tonight with stuff for Jesse. She has postponed her visit.

A wise decision on Joye's part. It will be good to have Jesse here!
