Election Eve.....

A mini service of prayer for the anticipated new President of the United States of America - our neighbor:

From the book of wisdom - Proverbs 4:18-27

I'll read the light print.....you read the dark print.:-)

"The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.

But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over.

My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them.

Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.

Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.

Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.

Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil."

A hymn of guidance for this new leader:

"Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, pilgrim thought this barren land,

I am weak but thou art mighty, hold me with thy pow'rful hand.

Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more.

Fee me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow;

let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through:

strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield,

When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside;

bear me through the swelling current, land me safe on Canan's side:

And now, I offer my own prayer for this new leader:

May you, O God, watch over this person, the man that you have chosen for this difficult position of power and authority. Keep him humble in your sight. Let him seek your wisdom and may he stand firmly as he leads his people with all insight and grace that comes from your Mighty Hand. May he have eyes to see and ears to hear..........I pray in the Name of the Christ, the Son of God, the Prince of Peace, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End........Amen.

May God show mercy on and give wisdom to, the people of the United States of America this night.
