Blogging has it's perks....

My friend Dave Dorosh reads my blog regularly.  He's a co-worker of mine.  A very fine fellow!  He's an artist too, as you can see above.  Intarsia is his way of relaxing, a hobby of sorts.  He creates beauty from wood.  He does many good and generous things with his creations too!!

So, being a regular reader of my blog "Rose of Sharon", he figured it may be a nice gesture to give me this rose that he had made quite some time ago. It went with the Blog Name after all!!  Walking by my desk he plunked down a grocery bag and said something like, "It's really not much."  And away he went back to his office.

The petals are carved from  African padauk wood; the stem of ebony; thorn and leaves of cedar; the backing from birch.

I quickly hung it on the wall beside my desk.  Such a thoughtful fellow....good-hearted and kind.  Actually, I work with a lot of people in that category!  Dave just happens to be one of them.

Tonight, I thank God for Dave and his good and sensitive heart...and for my beautiful new rose.  May God use his gifts even more in the days and years to come.
