Why do we do that anyway? Things get pretty comfortable. We expect life to always be the same but of course, in the back of our minds, we know that that kind of thinking is pretty unreasonable.
Circumstances change us. One day we're sailing along pretty smoothly and the next day we're in a weather bomb.
Being married for close to 42 years, we get used to one another's presence, in a way. We're always there with each other. When one says something, the other can almost finish their sentence. We know each others's quirks and likes and dislikes...when to give each other space and knowing when that isn't important. I don't know if that's good or bad...I tend to think it's pretty darn good. Love allows you to overlook the others faults and that's pretty sweet too.
I'll be walking with my man through a difficult time in the next several weeks. Neither of us like it much but this is where the "in sickness and in health...'til death us do part" really comes to the fore. We've never had to face this kind of thing before with one another but we'll attempt to go at it gracefully and faithfully believing that God not only has his hand on husband but on us together, as a couple.
We're a bit fearful. We wonder what the heart surgeon will be able to do for him. From a physical perspective, it tells us that this heart of his needs a great deal of repair....perhaps too much for the doctors to handle, but not too much for God.
So, we shall trust God in these days of uncertainty and walk with Him closely.
