Dog days of summer....

Up at 8 to get to church for some coffee and visiting before worship begins at 10.  Today we enjoyed a guest worship leader.  William joined his mom in one song as we sang and worshipped our God.

I had a chance to capture some new flowers outside the church too, before the service began.

The grasshopper appeared to be headed towards the tall yellow flowers for some reason.  Perhaps he liked the color yellow. He tripped and fell over on his side as he walked the stucco.

Then, after a bite to eat at noon, we were off looking for some furniture and a couple of TV's.  Am I the only person on earth with short legs?  I must be.  Every single couch/love seat/chair I sat on, with one exception, my feet dangled!!!  So, in that category, we're a bit limited as to what we can get.  Ken said it didn't matter to him because his feet hit the floor like nobody's business, being 6 feet and all.  We have our eyes on one couch...with two reclining end pieces and it's quite a bit smaller than most of the stuff we've looked at.  And of course, now with the smaller space, we have to go for a couple of flat screen TV's.  We don't want to go overly huge as those suckers are a pile of cash.  So, we're making some of those kinds of decisions and walking our feet off trying to get the best price and yet support our local businesses here in P.A., if at all possible.

Someone is coming to look at our dining room suite too, so we may be furniture-less as we move....less moving for the movers!!!  And yet another garage sale awaits us Thursday and Friday this week....not to mention the other things I'm responsible for this week at church....oh ya, I work all week too.....

This too shall pass.

I desire God to be in all of this as we move forward.  His ways are best, I've found.

Be cool.....eat ice.....

Retreat....

Even though I'm working and busy doing so much around the house trying to get everything in order for our move.....I'm thinking of Matt.......up in northern Colorado........retreating.....and wondering what he's doing and learning and thinking.

My prayers go to the Father.....for Him to be the main event in his thoughts during these weeks.

I look forward to hearing all about his spiritual adventure upon his return around the 23rd of August.

It's a beautiful morning....

so, while I drink my coffee, before I begin work in this lovely building, I will say "good day" to all of you!!!

Hope the day is a blessed one indeed.

Perhaps this evening I'll get a chance to post something of great significance.....or not.

know something.....?????

I HATE GARAGE SALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though I hate them, we're having one Thursday and Friday at our place......actually IN the garage!!!

Between daughter and us, we will have something for you....whether you really WANT it or not.

Come and barter.

We have furniture too.....2 dining room suites, love seat, filing cabinet, TV's, parson's bench, entertainment centre, small china cabinet, wardrobe.

Then there are outdoor christmas lights, patio furniture of sorts, collectible dolls (even a Cabbage Patch doll named Alexandra....I remember!!!), vases, beautiful young women's clothing and shoes, kids tables and chairs, a 2,000 piece bucket of Legos, lamps, cushions, guitar wii, electric piano....you get the picture.

It's all such a pain in the butt to get ready while trying to pack....ooouuuuuu......and the back, actually.

I just want to go home and lie down......hmmmmmmmmm....guess I am at home.  Too tired to notice where I am actually.....

And may the Lord bless you as you buy up all our stuff.  357 - 21 Street West (back alley), Prince Albert.

COME AND GET IT.....and don't forget your wallets!!:-)

One whole bedroom...plus....

One bedroom packed up.  Half a bedroom packed in the basement. All towels and linens bagged and tagged.  Now to wait for the bubble wrap...husband has been busy with "other things", like helping his friend with his garage where his tools will be stored...so I shall be patient.

But if I do this much every night, we should be ready for the 15th.  Guess we should book some movers....:-)

Our new place shall be painted and carpeted and hopefully new lino in kitchen/storage/bathroom.

Blinds will be ordered soon.  A garage sale will take place this Thursday and Friday.  Granddaughter has a two day job awaiting her!

Last night I awoke at 4:30 a.m.  My mind was arranging furniture in the new place and it wouldn't let me sleep until it was nearly time to get up at 6:40.  That is aggravating!  I was thinking of my friend, Dave, too, as his father has passed away.  The sting of death keeps one awake as well....

Hopefully tonight, I will have the living room all arranged in my mind ahead of time so it won't interrupt my sleep.:-)

Nite all.....

They're just things....

So, I'm not going to get all sappy about saying good-bye to them.  But a few of them have graced our table since I was a very little girl...and tables before I even existed.  Some held juice, others puddings and some fine teas.  They have heard Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving blessings and conversations around those tables for several generations now.  A few have hosted wedding showers and high teas and all who managed to drink from them were delighted with their exquisiteness.  So delicate, one can see right through them.

I decided it was time to share what had been given to me.  Space at our new place will be at a premium so I figured now would be a great time to let these fine pieces go to my friends whom I know would make use of them and find a place for them.

This one was sent to my grandmother from her mother-in-law in England.  My mother remembers her getting it one Christmas...all wrapped up in many, many layers of paper and straw in a huge box.  The China is so fine, you can see through it.  Things like this aren't meant to be sold.  They're meant to be given away with love for the person receiving them.  How they have managed to be kept in one piece all these years, still amazes me!  They are, of course, numbered and registered as well.

This one's new home is a lovely one.

..see how thin the China is...my fingers shadowed on the other side....

And another one of my most favorite pieces is this one.

The house is starting to look like this now.

So, it's a mess.

Oh, and anyone out there who would like a China tea cup or some corn flower crystal, let me know.  I'll give it to you....and I mean that sincerely.:-)

A new view....

After church we took some good friends out for lunch.  They had some packing boxes for us as well, so we stopped by their place and loaded up.  Now, we're set to get some serious packing done.

Just thought you'd like to see where we'll be in a couple of weeks.  This evening we went over to measure the rooms to see what can be kept and what must be given up.  I think we're in pretty good shape to be able to move most of our things over. Painting and flooring needs to happen first...hopefully.

Anyway, here's what it looks like from the back of the building.

The view looking west.

and to the east.

back of the building

The bottom picture is our little space facing south.  I'm excited to get there....but not before some good old fashioned elbow grease and some blood, sweat and tears being done.....heavy on the sweat!

Keep cool out there and sleep well......and may he bless you with peace as you rest this night.
