Today, we welcomed three new members into the church fellowship. One is the daughter-in-law of my good friend and the others are the two fellows who were brought over to Canada to live from the Congo (who will be also writing their citizenship exams this month). They have come a very long way and they are to be commended on their adjusting to a new culture and way of life. So, all three of these 'young' people will continue to be a part of our worship at Gateway Covenant, as they have already been. There is something about becoming a "member" though, in an institution like the church, that encourages them to become involved in a greater degree in the life of the church as well as in having to be accountable to an entire congregation for their decisions in life. It's more than just "being a member"...it's being an accountable part of the Body of Christ. I think it is good.
Since husband isn't used to taking pictures (he forgot), and I was the one to do the official welcoming of the members on behalf of the church, a picture of the three didn't get taken. We had a potluck lunch after worship to celebrate their membership decisions, so I managed to take a couple of pics then.
It's just hard gettin' around on these dashed crutches, otherwise more pictures would have been taken!
As far as my knee is concerned, on Friday the Saskatoon doctor said "no surgery" as far as he could tell. Still too swollen to do a totally accurate diagnosis. An MRI will be had in the next little while as well as beginning some intense physio. Still terribly swollen but the brusing is becoming less each day. Just happy to hear I won't need surgery!!! Ice, physio and elevation are the keys at this point.
Perhaps in the next few weeks I may return to work. God only knows.....We'll see how it all shakes down.
