...and hit me over the head with a baseball...sized hail that is!
In all my over 40 years camping at Waskesiu, never have I experienced the
likes of THAT storm! We went looking for photo ops around 6:30PM and
saw buck elk and lightening bolts lasting 4 and 5 seconds. Managed
to capture one bolt! Show you later.
Came back to trailer just before the storm struck Waskesiu. Started with a few
Pings then some rain...then THUD...THUD...THUD...huge hail stones smacked the
Trailer roof and awning. We figured they were going to come right
through and land in the middle of our Cribbage game!
Afterwards everyone was out assessing damage. Trees kept us from any damage at all.
Others had broken awnings, vehicle dents and broken windshields and some had shattered
vents which let in buckets of water. Our six foot ladder and several of Ken's tools
were used around the neighborhood. Seems like we all attempted to help one another in
some way or other.
