Football and old movies...

After a morning "toast and coffee" at the Dub, we simply had a day to relax.

But not before leftovers at noon, with family over.

THEN my man watched football and I watched old movies on TCM.

What a great way to get peaceful.

THEN we had the fam over again to share turkey buns with dressing at supper, made a plate up for the son-in-law who will be home today, and continued on with the old movie marathon.

Boggy and Bacall....Cary Grant....Bette Davis.....what more could a classic movie lover ask for, I say.

I did do some posting on Facebook with some pics too...and that takes a whack of time!

Now, it's on to Halloween.....I wonder if we will have snow like we did last year???  Yikes!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We waited for our company to arrive to fill up the open spaces at the table.  Our first major holiday meal in the new place.  Lots of room to maneuver except in the kitchen...where it got a slight bit overheated at one point and the cook threatened to quit....other than that, good times!  Small kitchens with only one sink and not much room to do the details of getting the food on the table can try ones patience, but we made it without calling 911.  At one point I did have visions of a pot of potatoes on the cook's head....my own doing, of course, but graciousness prevailed....thank the good Lord.

Now it's feet up and a good nights sleep....

+23????

That's just crazy stuff!  I remember the year it snowed 30 cms. on Thanksgiving weekend...back in....can't remember...'01????  Brittney and I sat on our couch and watched the snow continue to pile up on our deck with the fireplace going and watching old movies.

But today is another story.  Warm wind, hot temps, no jackets, bare feet.  Ya gotta' love it.

I hate to wish away my life but....I wished it was next summer already......

Ya, that's why I can't wait for summer.  We shall attempt to have some kind of vacation NEXT year!

Like the "good old days"...

Before my time, folks used to trade for goods or services required.  If you were a mechanic and you needed food, you might go to your neighbor who grew a garden and ask if he wanted to trade some work on his tractor for a bushel of spuds.  Or if you were a baker and you needed to get to town for a fancy shin-dig you may ask someone to pick you up with their rig for a few loaves of bread and a chocolate layer cake.

Well, getting my computer fixed ended up being something just like that.  I knew a fellow (friend #1) who had great computer skills so he fixed my home computer and I gave him a just-out-of-the-oven pumpkin pie and some homemade hot dog relish.  Another fellow (friend #2) had some programs that my computer needed so he hopped in his car and brought them over to friend #1's so he could do the installation.  I shall give friend #2 his pie at church on Sunday.  They wouldn't take cash so we all used our little talents to get a job done...and everyone was happy....hopefully.....well, for sure I am.  I can now blog away to my heart's content.

It looks like the beginning of a great Thanksgiving weekend.....

Thought I'd make an apple pie too, while I was at it for our company on Sunday...I think one likes pumpkin pie but the other would rather have a different kind...so apple it is!!!  Turkey is in the sink thawing, yam is purchased as is the whipping cream for the pies....dry bread awaits being turned into savory dressing and all is ready for the feast.

Yes, we do have so much to be thankful for!  I'm thankful for those good old days, that taught us how to work together towards a common good.....it's how I got my computer fixed.:-)

Another work/coffee update...

There is no doubt in my mind that I have some very kind friends!

People are coming to my rescue to fix my home computer!  It is grand, I must say.

I know that they won't accept cash....they told me.....so I will find a way to thank these gentlemen for their graciousness.  It IS Thanksgiving Weekend afterall!!!  It will probably involve food.....

Work Coffee Break....

I am taking a moment at work just to let you know that my computer at home has done an evil thing....it stopped......

I know nothing about computers other than how to turn them on and off....pretty much.

Sunday, it was not co-operating.

Monday there was a blue screen saying something about "dumping all files"....scary....

Today, I shall have to get my computer "fixed"....whatever that entails.

Has it "crashed"????

I'm thinking so.

I will have to get someone to have a look at the beast to see if it needs hospital time.

Until then, I am computer-less.  I feel like my head has been severed.

Ta Ta for now then.

Pretty...

I like pink.  Especially when it comes in the form of a Hibiscus.  This plant is scrawny but it keep sending up pretty pink blooms at work.

I'd love to be in a place where these grow profusely down streets and around the outside of homes.

Guess I'll have to be satisfied with good old petunias!
