it's like a pelican talking to a goose;
or a gull attempting to squawk to a pelican;
or a goose honking to a gull.
The message just doesn't get across.
We're on a different wave length....and we speak only our own language.
It's simply not in a goose's nature to learn to speak gull!!! It's not in them. So they go about in their own bird worlds, communicating only to those of the same feather, as it were.
People are the same, I'm finding. Sometimes in an attempt to get a message across, we only see our side of things. Our minds can't break through to another person's thoughts and way of thinking. We either refuse to really listen to them, to hear them out or, it's not in our nature to do so. We may even be self-centered, selfish and stubborn. Others of like minds listen and hear us, so why can't others who are not like us do the same?
Communication breaks down...and we go our separate ways.....still oblivious to what the the other person's message was.
Communicating and hearing is great....but we must learn to actually listen and understand each other. I think that means getting our egos out of the way.

It takes practice. I'm learning.
