John 12:12-15

"12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.”

This Sunday we will celebrate Palm Sunday.

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the colt of a donkey to the strains of "Hosanna"! "Hosanna in the highest!"

Folks waved palm branches.  It was an exuberant crowd!  Everyone was overjoyed to see him.

The week that followed was one that would forever be remembered and recounted, again and again and again...

Holy Week for Christians begins the day following Palm Sunday where we remember the last days of Jesus, the Christ, his death and his resurrection.

It would have been exciting to see this man, Jesus, who healed the sick and blind and diseased....the One who spoke with authority, the One whose deeds were recorded by historians besides the authors of the Gospels.

I think I would like to have been there to witness Jesus entry into Jerusalem and wave my very own palm branch.

I wonder if I would have been one of those who, only a few days later, yelled "Crucify him!"
