Upright n' barely breathin'.....

Hey, I actually made it through last week fairly unscathed...other than a stitched up side where doctor "surgically removed" some scary looking moles and shipped them off for a viewing.  Well, then of course, there's the regular tendinitis in my left Achilles heel and my right wrist....at least it seems to balancing itself out some.  Nothing to really complain about, that's for sure.

Relay for Life was terrific....other than a car mishap by one of our teammates (wasn't hurt or anything); some sad recollections of those who have passed away recently from cancer and a general feeling of lethargy which seemed to permeate the team this year.  Perhaps we're running out of steam.  We came in 4th place and raised over $9700.this year so we are very grateful to folks for supporting our team in the many and various fund raising events that took place in the Forest Centre building.  (Many are already complaining that there won't be a cookie day until the fall!!!!)

Then we attended a funeral for a very old friend of the family and caught up with that family...some of whom I hadn't connected with for close to 50 years!  It was a great celebration of his life, a life rich with dedication and 'joi de vivre'....a fun person with a laugh you could hear over everyone else's.  He was a man of integrity and a man who loved his wife and family...and it showed!  May God bless the memory of Edgar Wood.

A dance recital followed the funeral.  Ya, the weekend was like a roller coaster of sorts...screeching around corners.....slowly climbing the next hill only to find another crashing downward loop to take your breath away.  The recital was like that...breathtaking!  Had to wait until almost the end before our ballerina made her debut with seven other young beauties.  She danced and leaped and bended and bowed all to the music of "Love Story"...ending with a presentation of a rose which she gracefully clasped in her willowy fingers....and it was over.  I applauded long and hard for my ballerina, for my darling Brittney and presented her with one rose from each of us...Gram, Gramps and Mom following her performance.  She came back to our place and I took a few more pictures.

It was all quite grand and glorious!   Her mom and grandpa and I were so proud of her!

Sleep well, friends...another week is upon us.  If today is any indication, it should be a gooder!
