Chelsea the Terminator.....

My physiotherapist raked me over the coals today...and made this poor old woman cry.....pulling, pushing, prodding, manipulating and causing me a never-ending amount of excruciating pain...all for the sake of seeing what was needed to make my knee well again...what the next step in "wellness therapy" may be.  I really believe she is actually a KGB interrogation specialist/spy who does physio in her spare time.

We ended the session with several areas of concentrated pulsars on my knee complete with a freezie bag.  Do you think it could have been a form of sucking all the nuclear physics information I have stored in my over-sized brain....via the knee cap?  I didn't take highschool physics for nothing!

I think that to be a very real possibility....

She said she wants me to return on Thursday for more "therapy".  Hmmmmmmmmmmm

For now, I shall take drugs and forget about the pain, put my leg back up on pillows and fall asleep thinking of ways I can murder "Chelsea the Terminator" before my next scheduled appointment.  I would too, if it weren't for the possible jail time.

So, in case you don't read any more of my blog posts, since I won't be around to type any, I may have to think of something more original to send you messages...perhaps carrier pigeon via my 8 X 10 cell block...where "Chelsea the Terminator" won't find me.

We'll see how the next few days progress.....or not.....

Jumping the gun....

With my doctor's appointment this morning, he told me to NOT rule out surgery of one type or another.

Guess I got a bit ahead of myself with the other doctor's diagnosis (although he did say the MRI would tell the tale too).

We'll see.

Just watched a show on holistic remedies and medicines in South America and how the people are going back to the land for growing all their own food and back to their ancient ways of healing with indigenous plants and herbs.  It was most interesting, mostly because it was a First Nations young girl who was also a medical doctor taking this journey to Chile, Brazil and various South American countries.  I too, believe we will find cures of various diseases within the jungles and oceans of the earth.  It just makes sense to me.

Husband bought a bag of Licorice Allsorts.  He's a very bad man....:)  But licorice has some natural ingredients also that are good for ones health...minus the candied outer coating of course.

Go figure.  I'm a sucker for licorice...with or without the rings and squares of colored candy attached to it!

Tomorrow begins the hard work of physiotherapy and I shall need some comfort food....if it's licorice allsorts, so be it!  They should go nicely with Tylenol 3's!!!

New members....

Today, we welcomed three new members into the church fellowship.  One is the daughter-in-law of my good friend and the others are the two fellows who were brought over to Canada to live from the Congo (who will be also writing their citizenship exams this month).  They have come a very long way and they are to be commended on their adjusting to a new culture and way of life.  So, all three of these 'young' people will continue to be a part of our worship at Gateway Covenant, as they have already been.  There is something about becoming a "member" though, in an institution like the church, that encourages  them to become involved in a greater degree in the life of the church as well as in having to be accountable to an entire congregation for their decisions in life.  It's more than just "being a member"...it's being an accountable part of the Body of Christ.  I think it is good.

Since husband isn't used to taking pictures (he forgot), and I was the one to do the official welcoming of the members on behalf of the church, a picture of the three didn't get taken.  We had a potluck lunch after worship to celebrate their membership decisions, so I managed to take a couple of pics then.

It's just hard gettin' around on these dashed crutches, otherwise more pictures would have been taken!

As far as my knee is concerned, on Friday the Saskatoon doctor said "no surgery" as far as he could tell.  Still too swollen to do a totally accurate diagnosis.   An MRI will be had in the next little while as well as beginning some intense physio.  Still terribly swollen but the brusing is becoming less each day.  Just happy to hear I won't need surgery!!!  Ice, physio and elevation are the keys at this point.

Perhaps in the next few weeks I may return to work.  God only knows.....We'll see how it all shakes down.

Visitors....

Today we had visitors.  A co-worker, his wife and children.  They came to see how I was progressing and to bring muffins and jam!!!  Who thought being incapacitated could be so much "fun"???

They are thoughtful folks...caring and compassionate and we were able to get to know them a bit more as we visited.  The kids are terrific too!  Ms. J. is growing up into a fine young lady and Ms. C. is beginning on her journey in an upright position....trying, at least!

I took a few pics...not great ones, but I loved them being in our home most of all!

We ended the visit with a rousing game of "Clang the Coasters"...such fun!

It's times like these that make ones life memorable...and very much worth living!

A very special day....

We had a Birthday Party!  Brittney turned 17!!!  We ate pizza, drank fizzy drinks, sang the Birthday Song, ate Rum Cake (home made by daughter!!!), took a few pictures and was amazed at our lovely granddaughter being kind and thoughtful, well mannered and simply a beautiful young woman!  It was good to be able to celebrate with her on her special day.  That hasn't happened too often for us...oh, we celebrated, but not on her actual birth day...February 4th!

When I look back on the day she was born, it was a bit of a blurr....morning turned into night and night into morning but in the middle of it all, this little cherub came into the world to change us, to love us and to see that the next generations coming up to make up the world of humanity, if you can judge by her, will be a good bunch of folks....smart, focused and determined.

Here she is:

A snowy evening too....great way to end 17 years of ones life, I say!!!

It's a special day...

for my Chinese friends at work.  Happy New Year, Cynthia, Xilin, Xianhua and Baosheng!  Everyone took the time to wear "red" today in honor of this special occasion.  It is the Year of the Rabbit.

Here's a picture I was sent:

Wished I could have celebrated with them...oh well, perhaps next year!  Our Forest Service group is a good one for participatory functions.....the "Fitness Challenge" is now beginning (of which I am a part...isn't that hilarious in my conditon!!), "Relay for Life" will begin to take shape with fund raisers, etc. (of which I am a part!)....and who knows what we all will be a part of next???

I wonder if they celebrated Ground Hog Day yesterday.  It wouldn't surprise me in the least!

Valentine's Day is less than 2 weeks away....Andrea probably has her candy hearts, etc. out for everyone to eat!

And tomorrow is our darling granddaughter's 17th Birthday.  I can't believe it!  SEVENTEEN!!!!!

She's a beauty and a sweetie....and a teenager...with a 97 school average!!! In French, no less!!!
Happy Birthday (tomorrow), to our darling Brittney!
We love you!

A beauty all its own...

Yes, winter has a beauty all its own, like so many other things in creation.  It has an original look.  Black.  White.  I'm quite partial to black and white actually, not only in my fashion tastes but in the world of photography.  There is something beautiful about varying shades of black and white that triggers my index finger to snap the good old Olympus SP-51OUZ.

But color is a gift to the senses!  I was watching OASIS HD channel this afternoon and it had a program on French Polynesia and the program there to revive and maintain the sea turtle population.  Most of the show, of course, was under water.  The color was a feast for the eyes. It made me want to take pictures...lots and lots of pictures!

But instead, I watched the telly and the shows it offered hour by hour....the Sahara desert.....the Australian outback....the Woolong Giant Panda Preserve in China (well, being it was pandas, that particular show was almost all in black and white:)

The azure blue of seas and the bright vivid yellows of the enormous schools of fish...not to mention the lushness of jungles resplendent with orchids of varying colors!!!

I could get to like this life of watching OASIS each day, learning about various things in nature.

Yes, black & white OR color....each has a beauty all its own....

I'll have to check tonight to see whether I dream in color....not sure....
